WorldWide Electric Corporation History
WorldWide Electric Corporation was founded by Mr. Rick Simmonds and Mr. Fred Rosen in 1998. As former managers in the Ajax Motor Corporation from 1980 to 1997, Rick and Fred managed both AJAX and WEG motor programs until such time that WEG purchased Ajax. Remaining through the acquisition for only a short period of time, Rick and Fred decided to take their expertise in both sales and motor sourcing to build their own company, and WorldWide Electric Corporation (WWE) was born from the dining room table of Mr. Rick Simmonds.
Stemming from their motor program management days at Ajax, Rick and Fred both had developed extensive knowledge of Brazil and Asia, and in particular China. Through regular visits to these countries, they became intimately familiar with each country’s manufacturing capabilities. Using this knowledge, they selected Beijing Electric as their primary source for WorldWide Electric branded motors. Beijing Electric was already well known for its production for Westinghouse, TECO Westinghouse, and Ajax Motor Corporation. The new WorldWide Electric brand of Beijing motors flourished, allowing WWE to expand quickly into complimentary product lines such as motor controls and gearing. In that same era, WWE became a National distributor for Siemens brand motor control products for select market segments and products.
In early 2005, product line additions were made in gearing with the launch of WWE reducer brands from both China and Taiwan.
In 2010, as WWE Corporation continued to expand its presence in the US marketplace, it soon added the internationally recognized motor line from Hyundai Heavy Industries(HHI). Hyundai’s path to the United States had previously included a contract with General Electric Company as the X$D premier motor line. As that relationship dissolved, WWE would step in to provide U.S. market leadership and guidance to Hyundai. Working together, WWE would help HHI further develop its Crown TritonTEFC and explosion proof lines in addition to IEEE-841 motors, all inverter duty rated. The Hyundai motor line would also expand into medium voltage motors up to 30,000HP.
In 2013, the two firms would work together again to offer a Hyundai Heavy Industries variable frequency drives line in low voltage.
Today, WorldWide Electric Corporation presents a full line of motors, motor controls and gearing sourced from the United States, China, Korea and Taiwan. All of which carry the finest certifications available in today’s marketplace including, but not limited to, UL, UR, CSA, CE and ISO. With almost 40 years of experience, the management and ownership of WorldWide Electric makes available one of the most quality tested/assured and diverse lines of electrical-mechanical products in the industry today.
